PASTOR'S PIECE

Dear Friends,

2018 BISHOP’S LENTEN APPEAL LIVING IN FAITH, GIVING IN GRATITUDE

The Bishop’s Lenten Appeal is in full swing and we are asking every household in our parish to support this appeal to the extent that they are able.  The BLA funds many programs, services and ministries that serve people in need and furthers the Gospel mission of Jesus Christ in our diocese.  Let us join together to do the Lord’s work — works that touch the lives and souls of thousands of people in our diocese.  Thank you!

ENCOUNTER LENT USING OPERATION RICE BOWL

Join our faith community—and nearly 14,000 Catholic communities across the United States — in a life-changing Lenten journey of encounter with CRS Rice Bowl.  Pick up your family’s CRS Rice Bowl from the table to the right as you leave the Church.  During the 40 days of Lent, as companions on the journey, we will encounter our neighbor.  If you need a rice bowl and Lenten Calendar (packaged together), pick one up at the poor box at the Church entry.  See the inserts in this bulletin.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS FRIDAYS AT 7 P.M.

Join us for the Stations of the Cross each Friday of Lent at 7 p.m.  Some families gather before Stations in the Church Hall for a pot luck soup dinner.  You are welcome to join the pot luck soup dinner too (about 6 p.m.)

ECUMENICAL LENTEN SERVICE THIS WEDNESDAY, FEB. 21

Join the churches of Rappahannock for “A Lenten Pilgrimage” starting this Wednesday at Washington Baptist Church.  We start with a pot luck dinner in the Baptist Church Hall at 6 p.m. (all are welcome).  The Lenten service starts at 7 p.m. in the Baptist Church.  The theme this week is “PROMISE”.  See Lenten Service Schedule inserted in this bulletin.
