The Rev. Stockton Williams, Rector
Fr. Stockton was born and raised in Austin, TX. He attended Amherst College where he graduated in 1973 with a B.A. cum laude in Religion (with an emphasis on American Studies). He went on to graduate with honors from the University of Texas Law School in 1976. After a year as a Law Clerk to a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals, 5th Circuit (where his father was later to serve as a judge), Stockton then practiced law in the Austin firm of Stubbeman, McRae, Sealy, Laughlin & Browder, where he specialized in business litigation and appellate work.
Stockton went on to graduate with honors in May, 1986, from the Virginia Theological Seminary. He first served as the Assistant Rector at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waco, TX from 1986-1989. Following this, he served as the Vicar, and then Rector, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Houston, TX until 1995. From 1994-2001, he served as Rector at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Midland, TX, until coming to St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Kerrville, TX.
Stockton has been active in both the Diocese of Texas as the Chair of Supervisors and Tellers and the Provincial Snod delegate. With the Diocese of Northwest Texas, he served as Chair of the Board of the Bishop Quarterman Conference Center, and was Presiding Judge of the Ecclesiastical Trial Court.
Fr. Tom Murray III, Associate Rector
Fr. Tom was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He attended Texas A & M University where he earned a B.S. in Psychology in 1987. He went on the University of Mary Hardin Baylor to obtain his M.A. in Psychology in 1989. In 1990, and for the next 3 years, Fr. Tom underwent brain tumor removal and resulting complications, necessitating hospitalization and recovery. After this life changing event, Fr. Tom attended the Virginia Theological Seminary and graduated in 1996.
Fr. Tom first served as a Chaplain Intern at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and Texas Heart Insitute & Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, TX until 1998. He then worked as the Assistant Rector for St. Cuthbert Episcopal Church in Houston until 2000. Then, All Saints Episcopal School in Tyler, TX as the Chaplin until 2002. Tom then went on to serve as the Associate Priest at Christ Episcopal Churh in Tyler, and the Assistant Rector at Trinity Episcopal Church in Marshall, TX. During 2004 & 2005, Tom served as the Rector at St. Michael and All Angeles Episcopal Church in Longview, TX. His activities in the Diocese of Texas have included serving on the Executive Board, serving as Commission Chair of The Ministry of the Disabled, and serving as Spiritual Director Y.E.S. (Jr. High Renewal Retreat).
