What We Believe

Lutherans are Christians who...

Trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Preach and teach the Biblical message of God's grace
and we respond to this grace freely and lovingly!

Center our worship is God's Word with a strong musical tradition.

Offer new life in Christ through the Word, Baptism, and the Lord's Supper.

Believe all belong to the "priesthood of all believers,"
where every member is empowered by God
and sent out to minister in Christ's name!

Believes there is a place here for everyone!

St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church:
Who we are:

St. Peter's Lutheran Church has been making Christ known since 1852.  We are a lively and hard-working congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
We welcome all people, whatever your background, to travel with us on our journey of faith, searching out God's will for us as we are continually being reformed as a faith community.
We are committed to serving with our sister congregation, Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Corydon as well as with Harrison and surrounding counties.
We share ministries when such sharing will enhance our work in God's Kingdom!  We believe that as a people we need to be fed and nourished by the Word of God, and so we participate in study of the Word through Sunday school and Bible study.  We gather around the Holy meal, believing Christ to be truly present in the meal to nourish our bodies and souls.  We go out into the world nourished by the Word so that we might serve in His name!
You are invited to respond to God's call to know Him, begin a relationship with God and God's work, and receive and experience God's love for you!

How we worship:

Worship has a friendly structure and moves at a comfortable pace.

The people of God join their voices together in prayer and in praise and in song.

Every week we hear the Word of God proclaimed and respond faithfully to the Word!

We celebrate the Lord's Supper every Sunday.

The Lord's Supper is Holy Communion, a gift to God's people.
Participants of any age and from any Christian tradition are welcome at the Lord's Table.

Children of all ages are welcome and encouraged to be at worship!
They have a joyful noise to make to the Lord as well!
