STORIES OUT OF A TRUNK:
Greedy Spider

8:30-9:15
All-School Assembly: Jack Tales & Other Fun Stories performed by Professional Storyteller Debbie Dunn from Mosheim, TN.
9:30-11:30
2-Hour Workshop: Story Introduction, Auditions for 59 parts, & Dress Rehearsal. Select up to 59 kids from your school to be performers in the “Greedy Spider." Debbie will provide all costumes and her sound system.
1:00-2:00
Parents, Press, & School Invited to Watch Play. Debbie acts as Narrator & Director. She will also tell a Solo Tale.

 

 

If your school is too large to have just one all-school assembly, here is an option of how the time frames can be adjusted:

 

8:15-8:45
Primary Grades Assembly: Jack Tales & Other Fun Stories performed by Professional Storyteller Debbie Dunn from Mosheim, TN.
9:00-9:30
All-School Assembly: Jack Tales & Other Fun Stories performed by Professional Storyteller Debbie Dunn from Mosheim, TN.
9:45-11:45
2-Hour Workshop: Story Introduction, Auditions for 59 parts, & Dress Rehearsal. Select up to 59 kids from your school to be performers in the “Greedy Spider." Debbie will provide all costumes and her sound system. The group will perform this play twice that afternoon: Primary Grades & Intermediate Grades. Parents & Press have the option to attend either show.

Parents, Press, & Primary Grades Invited to Watch Play. Debbie acts as Narrator & Director. If there is time left, she will also tell a Solo Tale.
1:30-2:15
Parents, Press, & Intermediate Grades Invited to Watch Play. Debbie acts as Narrator & Director. If there is time left, she will also tell a Solo Tale.

 

 

 

Synopsis: The Greedy Spider made his 8 children do all the work. One day, each Spider Kid was invited to a different party. He was too greedy to risk going to a party that would not serve the best food. He only agreed to let his children go to the parties provided they would tie a rope to one of his eight legs. Then, if his favorite food was being served, the child was directed to pull on that rope so he would only have to attend one party. In the meantime, he would take a nap. At each party, there were Stories & Sing-Alongs before refreshments were served:


At one of the parties, The Loud-Mouth Frog was performed.

At another party, The Tiger & His 5 Counselors (a revised Aesop’s Fable) was performed.

At a final party, The Foolish Porcupine was performed.

Finally, the Refreshments were served. It turns out that every party was serving the Greedy Spider’s favorite food. Therefore, each Spider Kid pulled on his or her rope. Come watch the play to enjoy the comic results.
