Announcing Story Liner 2.9.10
Note:  Version 2.9.10 disables the ability to share StoryLine projects via iTunes File Sharing.  Do not upgrade if you use this functionality.
Version 2.9.10 is a new version of Story Liner for iOS available now on the iTunes app store.  This minor version adds support for iOS up to 10.3.  The iCloud sharing of Story Liner project files still exists, but the app now supports sharing the text version of your project via the "Add to iCloud" service.  See How It Works (iOS) for more details.

Announcing Story Liner 2.9.5
Version 2.9.5 is a new version of Story Liner for iOS available now on the iTunes app store.  This minor version adds support for iOS 7 and also adds some project sharing options.  The iCloud sharing of Story Liner project files still exists, but two options have been added.  See How It Works (iOS) for more details.

Announcing Story Liner 2.9
Version 2.9 is a new version of Story Liner available now on the iTunes app store.  This minor version adds support for iCloud sharing of projects, and adds more stability, due to better memory management.  This version also changes the way the project canvas appears on the iPhone/iPad device -- the selected story node will now appear bolded, instead of being colored in blue.  This canvas change is in preparation for more extensive changes to how the canvas appears and behaves, and the addition of other features in 3.0.  Stay tuned for that.

We are in the process of determining the best approach to sharing for Android, and as soon as we have a solution we like, we will release a 2.9 upgrade for Android devices as well.

Announcing Story Liner 2.8
Version 2.8 is a new version of Story Liner, available now on the iTunes app store and Android Market, with helpful new features you've been asking for.  New features include:
  • Copy/Cut & Paste plot points
  • Discard changes to projects
  • Share projects
  • Print projects
See the How It Works page for details.

What Is Story Liner?

Working on a film script, or maybe just writing a movie?  Composing the next great American novel, or cranking out an international espionage bestseller?  Knocking off an episode or two of your favorite TV series, or running gags for the experimental comedy troupe downtown?  Whatever you're writing, you need a tool to get your story organized, and keep it organized through whatever revisions you might need to do.  That tool is Story Liner.  Designed by a Hollywood producer, script developer, writing instructor and screenwriter, Story Liner was created to allow writers to compose and rework their stories in a visually simple way.

There are a lot of story-boarding apps out there, but virtually all of them are based on video footage and pictures.  Story Lineis a story boarding app for writers.  It's so simple to use, it doesn't get between you and your ideas.  Organize and reorganize the flow of your story.  Add detail levels, and examine your story at whatever level of detail you need.  Add as much or as little narrative description as you like.  Use the Narrator function to follow the flow of your story, beginning at any point you choose.  Have as many concurrent projects as you can dream up.  Sketch out your story ideas anytime, anywhere.

Story Liner lets you do what you do best: dream, imagine, write.  And it gives you a leg-up on the competition, because your stories will be organized the way the decision-makers can understand them.  You'll be able to rework sections much more quickly than those other guys.  You'll be the flexible one, with a treasure trove of great ideas, not some dead-end, one-joke jamoke.

So, before you start writing, before you plan your pitch, before any more great ideas slip away from you because you can't keep them organized:  Get your story straight.  Get Story Liner.

Available now at the iTunes App Store.
