Good Evening to Everyone, I hope that your week is going well. If you were not able to attend the Huntsville Hamfest this last weekend, you missed a great time. From Memphis to Nashville, Chattanooga to Knoxville and all points in between, I met many of you there in Huntsville. I was so good to see Tennessee so well represented there. There were many young hams at Huntsville as well from all over the Southeast; Tennessee included. Our great hobby seems to be quite alive contrary to some popular opinion. As many of you are aware, recently our Division Vice Director Glen Clayton W4BDB announced his resignation due to personal and health reasons. It has been announced by ARRL and Director David Norris K5UZ that a new Vice Director has been appointed to complete the current term. That person is Ed Hudgens WB4RHQ from the Nashville, Williamson County area of Middle Tennessee. Part of Ed’s biographical information reads as follows: Licensed in 1976 as Tech with code, and upgraded to General in 2005. ARRL Life Member since roughly 1977. Born 2/19/1944 in Nashville, TN. Married to Abbie Hudgens since 1965. Two grown children who still live in Knoxville, TN. Graduated in 1966 from Christian Brothers College in Memphis - BSEE. Taught at Herff School of Engineering at Univ. of Memphis and worked towards MSEE. Electrical engineer and Sr. Project Manager with Allen & Hoshall, Inc. in both Memphis and Knoxville for 35 years. Retired from Ameresco Federal Solutions in Knoxville as Sr. Engineer in spring of 2013. Member of WCARES (Williamson County ARES) serving at NWS and MTEARS Liaison for all weather related events. Coordinator of WCARES primary SSB Field Day station for the past several years. Active participant in most events and exercises in which WCARES is a part. Joined WCARES around 2003 after moving from Knoxville to Nashville. Ed can be reached at following address: wb4rhq@arrl.net. Please join me in welcoming Ed as our new Vice Director and give him your full support in the Tennessee Section. This coming weekend on Saturday marks the revival of a great Middle Tennessee hamfest: The Cedars of Lebanon Hamfest. It is a sanctioned ARRL event and promises to be a great one. Those of you who remember this event from the past, have vivid memories of being in the park at sunup to go through the tailgate area before breakfast. There is camping available since it will be held in the Cedars of Lebanon State Park just about 6 miles South of Lebanon, Tn. The event is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM CST. There will be forum talks presented beginning at 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. For those who can, come out and support the efforts of the Short Mountain Repeater Club to bring this great event back to Middle Tennessee. I will be there along with Randall Smith KI4OAS ARRL SEC and Ed Hudgens WB4RHQ. Stop by and say hello to us. -------------------------------------------------------------------- ARRL Tennessee Section Section Manager: Keith E Miller Sr, N9DGK n9dgk@arrl.org
