Welcome to the NEW Stone Soup Farm Worker-Owned Cooperative!

Who are we?

Our collective is an incorporated worker co-operative with a mission to better ourselves and our community. Being a co-op means that our business will be voluntary, open, democratic, and engaged in community participation and education.

The founding members are Jarrett Man, Susanna Harro, Amanda Barnett, and Dave DiLorenzo.  We have joined up with the Valley Alliance of Worker Cooperatives (VAWC), a local association of cooperatively-run businesses in the Pioneer Valley of Western MA, and they're helping us get started on this new path.  We are one of the first farms in MA and in the country to formally incorporate as a co-op.  We are very excited about these new developments, and we hope you are too!

What this means for your share:

The new Stone Soup Farm will continue to provide high-quality, delicious, organic vegetable farmshares.
If you currently have a 2013 Kitchen Garden share, it will continue exactly as it has, and any remaining payments should be made to the Kitchen Garden.  2013-2014 Winter Shares (veggie and egg) will be through Stone Soup, as well as 2014 summer shares (veggie, egg, and fruit).  You can sign up right here on this website, on the CSA shares page.  This includes all CSA pickup sites: The Non Profit Center in Boston, the Democracy Center in Cambridge, Cooley-Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, and all Clover sites. Winter shares are still available, but filling up fast!  And it's never too early to secure a spot for summer 2014.  Thank you all, we are really looking forward to providing your shares.  Please send questions stonesoupfarm@gmail.com

Jarrett A. Man (yes his real name) is from Lunenberg, MA, and is a Hampshire College alumnus.  He founded the original Stone Soup Farm in Belchertown, MA in 2008, and has been furiously farming since that day.  Since then he has also renovated and moved into a house in Hadley, MA along with 200 chickens, and married Katie Richardson.  He has always wanted to farm cooperatively.

Susanna Harro is from Saratoga Springs NY, and graduated from Wheaton College in Chicago.  She completed 2 years of apprenticeship at the Kitchen Garden in Sunderland, MA and was hooked on organic vegetable farming.  She is an avid runner, hiker, biker, and pretty much anything else that is active and out-of-doors.  She is the opposite of a couch potato.

Amanda E. Barnett is from Sharon, MA.  She has degrees in Biology and Women's Studies from UMass Amherst.  She has farmed animals at Mockingbird Farm in Easthampton, MA,
and vegetables at Riverland Farm in Sunderland, MA, among other places.  She is very interested in yoga and herbalism, and keeps us supplied with health-improving teas, tinctures, and lotions.

David DiLorenzo grew up in New London, NH, among the pine trees and granite.  He studied at UMass Amherst and has been working on organic farms since.  He loves pop music, books, and Amanda Barnett.
