I love my ice cream maker... a Cuisinart Automatic Frozen Yogurt And Ice Cream Maker!!!!! Great ice cream is so easy to make. 2 cups heavy cream
2 cups whole milk
1~ 2 inch piece vanilla bean, split lengthwise and scrape out vanilla beans
2 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
2 TBS vanilla extract
Combine heavy cream and milk into a saucepan. Add vanilla bean. Heat over medium flame until milk almost boils. Reduce heat to low.
Meanwhile beat egg yolks, sugar and vanilla extract in a large bowl and beat until light yellow and very smooth.
Add 4 TBS of the hot milk to the egg mixture and stir to incorporate. Stir the egg mixture into the hot milk slowly~ STIR vigorously so the eggs to not curdle! Cook mixture over a medium heat until thickens and it coats the back of a spoon, about 3-4 minutes. Cool completely. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean and mix well. Discard the bean. Pour into freezer bowl and process for 25 minutes. Remover from ice cream maker bowl and put into a container and freeze until very solid.
