Landscape Design
A well designed landscape is an art and a science. It is a living breathing artwork. It must look like a painting (making it an art), and it must thrive with the soils, lighting, temperature and other requirements (making it a science).

As in an artwork a landscape or garden must repeat colors to create unity, it must create a path for the eye. Unlike a painting a garden should draw and beckon you in. Inviting you to explore its hidden wonders. Unlike a painting a garden will evolve almost daily and a well planned garden will introduce to you new colors constantly. New flowers will grow and old ones will fade.

Gardening is also a science. It requires a knowledge of soils. How to amend and improve, pH and how to adjust it. It is a science because it requires a knowledge of plant cultures and which plants will work under what conditions. It is a science because a gardener will need to consider lighting requirements, temperatures, climates, and plant culture. It is a never ending but exciting challenge.

A well planned and cared for garden or landscape is an art and a science which will bring beauty and enjoyment for many many years.

"Build cities, adorn your habitations, make gardens, orchards, and vineyards, and render the earth so pleasant that when you look upon your labors you may do so with pleasure, and that angels may delight to come and visit your beautiful locations." (President Brigham Young)
