I am scientific director of Digital Patient- and Process Model (DPM) and head of the DPM-Research Group at the Innovation Center Computer Assisted Surgery (ICCAS), University of Leipzig, Germany. In 2016, I received a habilitation (venia legendi) in computer science from the University of Magdeburg, Germany. In 2010, I earned a Ph.D. in computer science with highest honors (summa cum laude) and in 2004, my diploma (M.Sc.) degree in Computational Visualistics from the the same university. My research interests are in digital patient and process modeling, computerized clinical decision support, and blending data analysis, visualization, and exploration techniques (visual analytics) for the investigation of complex data from various domains such as clinical medicine, biology, and epidemiology.
