Dear colleagues:

Prof. Ziheng Yang (University College London), author of "Computational Molecular Evolution", "PAML", and originator of the discrete gamma approach to rate variation across sites in statistical phylogenetics, among other accomplishments, will be visiting the Stockholm Phylogenomics Group Friday June 14. He will give two talks at the Swedish Museum of Natural History, as follows:

Friday June 14, 10.15
MIN-LIG Seminar Room, Naturhistoriska riksmuseet

Bayesian Species Delimitation

The talk covers the same topic as an earlier talk in the Stockholm Phylogenomics Group series by Prof. Bruce Rannala. The talk will be followed by a demonstration from 11.00 to 12.00 of Ziheng's and Bruce's BPP software by Johannes Bergsten, commented by Ziheng. The demonstration is part of a computational phylogenetics course for PhD students. Outside guests are welcome but are expected to give students priority in the discussion following the demonstration.

Friday June 14, 15.00
MIN-LIG Seminar Room, Naturhistoriska riksmuseet

Uncertainties in Bayesian Estimation of Species Divergence Times

The talk will center around issues raised in the attached paper.

We expect to take Ziheng out to dinner in the evening, and you are welcome to join us if you wish. Let me know beforehand if you intend to come, and I will make sure there is room around the table for you!
