St. Monica - St. Michael School is a PreK through Grade 8 school located on the campus of St. Monica Parish in Barre, VT. The school was formed by the merger of St. Monica Elementary and St. Michael School in 2008, and is sponsored by both St. Monica Parish in Barre and St. Augustine Parish in Montpelier. Our school upholds the long tradition of Catholic Education in Central Vermont. St. Monica School opened in 1927 and St. Michael School was first dedicated in Montpelier, the state capital, in the mid 1800's. Both schools were founded by the Sisters of Mercy and have educated generations of Vermonters of all faith traditions.
St. Monica - St. Michael School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). We work to maintain the high level of rigor and accountability that is expected by both our parents and outlined by NEASC standards. NEASC provides accreditation services for more than 2,000 public and private institutions in the six state region. Accreditation is an assurance of quality academics with a commitment to continual improvement. Our teachers work to provide a range of both academic and extra-curricular options for our students.
In addition to our local assessment system we participate in the nationally normed Terra Nova Assessments. Our students consistently perform well on these assessments.
We welcome students of all faith traditions. Our belief in Christ and the practice of our Catholic faith is integrated into our daily routines.
