Student Leadership Teams

Campus ministry gathers the Catholics on campus for prayer, worship, and learning in order that they might bring the light of the Gospel to illumine the concerns and hopes of the academic community.
Empowered by the Spirit, #21

WHO ARE WE?
We are faith-filled students have answered our baptismal call by sharing our God given gifts to build up the Kingdom of God on the campus of the University of Cincinnati and bring a Christian witness to the academic world. We strive to make St. Monica-St. George a welcoming, diverse, and Christ-centered community.

WHAT DO WE DO?
We seek to help college students learn about their Catholic faith and how to integrate their faith into academics to educate the whole person.

HOW DO WE DO THIS?
We offer programs and opportunities to grow in one's Catholic faith by

  • forming the faith community by being a place of hospitality and welcome;
  • growing together in our faith through bible studies, retreats, meaningful liturgy, and other events;
  • forming our consciences through participating in a rich sacramental life, discernment programs, and programs dealing with moral questions;
  • incorporating Catholic Social Teaching into our life through service projects, spring break mission trips, and advocacy opportunities;
  • growing in our own development through theological reflection, prayer groups, mentoring, and being involved in liturgical celebrations
  • facilitating growth in our development as future leaders of the Church through peer ministry, leadership training, and opportunities to get involved with the parish.

We have four Teams that make up our Student Leadership. Each team is commissioned with an aspect of Campus Ministry. Each team is led by a Student Coordinator. These teams work with a campus minister to create programs and events to help us spread the Gospel on campus.

The three Teams are

1. Christian Living
It's through our acts by which our faith is made manifest. The Christian Living Team helps our community by facilitating the formation of consciences so that we may live our lives more authentically through personal morality and social justice. We want to offer programs and experiences that deepen our understanding of our Church's Catholic Social Teaching and our responsibility to make decisions based on Gospel values in a complex world.

2. Community and Outreach.
We want to be a very welcoming place that all students can call home! The CHE Team strives t make St. Monica-St. George to a welcoming, diverse community of faith by creating opportunities for students by being an open and welcoming presence on campus. Through compassion and invitation, we make a home for students at SMSG.  We try to meet the needs of our community, and we strive to make our group a place where everyone truly belongs. We want to be an active presence on our campus and a place of worship that invites students into deeper participation in their faith life.

4. Spirituality
The Spirituality Team provides a variety of prayer opportunities to help students to grow spiritually, and we provide occasions to learn about our Catholic faith as well. We also plan and lead the January retreat!
