Christian Living - Service and a Whole Lot More

"Campus ministry has the crucial task of assisting in the formation of Catholic consciences so that individuals who will continue to face very complex ethical issues throughout their lives are prepared to make good moral judgments according to gospel values."
Empowered by the Spirit, #63

"Campus ministry is called to make the struggle for social justice an integral part of its mission. The academic world generates questions not only of personal morality but also of social justice, which includes issues of peace and war, as well as reverence for life in all phases of its development."
Empowered by the Spirit, #70

We follow an ethic of the Seamless Garment, best exemplified by Cardinal Bernadin, who said, "When human life is considered ‘cheap’ or easily expendable in one area eventually nothing is held as sacred and all lives are in jeopardy.”

We strive to form good consciences so that we may live our lives more authentically in right relationships with God, others, and ourselves.
We want to offer programs and experiences that deepen our understanding of our Church's Catholic Social Teaching and our responsibility to make decisions based on Gospel values in a complex world.

whatever is opposed to life itself
such as any type of
euthanasia or
willful self-destruction

whatever violates the integrity of the human person,
such as
torments inflicted on body or mind
attempts to coerce the will itself

whatever insults human dignity
such as
subhuman living conditions,
arbitrary imprisonment,
the selling of women and children;
as well as disgraceful working conditions, where men are treated as mere tools for profit,

rather than as free and responsible persons; all these things and others of their like are infamies indeed.
They poison human society, but they do more harm to those who practice them than those who suffer from the injury.

Moreover, they are supreme dishonor to the Creator."
