Mary's V Grey, October 24th

Hockey lovers,

With the support of a healthy number of the boys Mary’s found their first win of the season. Late on Saturday in the dark we successfully beat Grey to secure 3 points, putting us joint 2nd in the Premiership (yeas that’s right – above Hatfield!). With a strong influx of freshers and the return of some very valuable players the season will hopefully continue to go well.

Our attack and midfield worked well together putting massive pressure on Grey. Thanks to a good keeper however we were unable to score in the first half, but with morale high we stormed ahead during the second half. The team worked really well together, and after many unsuccessful attempts on goal Pip finished off nicely which was excellently set up by Holly.

Our amazing defence were super strong for the whole game, ensuring nothing crept into the back of our net. Player of the match goes to Holly Colvin, whose ability to run at super speeds with the ball and smash it towards goal was impressive (quite how the girl in defence was still standing after one of Holly’s ball to the stomach I have no idea!).

Many thanks also go to Holden who stepped up and umpired for Grey!

Our next game sees us face Hatfield (who are already being cocky - Mr Humphrey) who won the league last year, so plenty of support would be amazing and hopefully we can stay ahead of them in the league. Saturday at 11 – be there!

Well done again girls :)
