- Rev. Shaun Lowery, O.S.F.S. -

One of the traditions of the Church is to process with the Blessed Sacrament on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) which is next Sunday. A Eucharistic Procession serves as a witness to our faith in Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and an opportunity to bring Jesus to others, who may not have experienced him in the Eucharist before. Next Sunday St. Mary and St. Joseph parishes will be having a joint Eucharistic Procession from St. Mary to St. Joseph. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will begin after the 11:45 a.m. Mass at St. Mary. At 1:30 p.m. we will then process from St. Mary to Monument Park, where we will pause for a short reading of the Gospel and a blessing of the south side of the city. After the benediction in Monument Park, we will continue the walk to St. Joseph, where we will have a few minutes of prayer, and then Benediction and Reposition of the Blessed Sacrament. The total walk will be 0.7 miles. Those in a parish group (e.g. Guadalupe Society, Rosary Altar Society, Knights, etc.) will be given a spot towards the beginning of the procession, and everyone in general is welcome to process as well. If you are in a parish group, please have someone from the group RSVP that they will be participating and approximately how many people will attend to the parish office. Those who cannot walk are welcome to join us at the beginning, at Memorial Park, and/or at the end at St. Joseph. After the Procession, St. Joseph and St. Mary are providing pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw and ice cream for lunch. Please join us in this way of evangelizing and bringing Jesus to others, as well as proudly proclaiming our faith to the people of the City of Adrian.

First Fridays

The Parish Pastoral Council is trying to coordinate a group of parishioners to staff a booth during downtown Adrian’s monthly first Friday event. The booth will distribute free materials and items to help people learn more about our faith and our parish community. We would like to have enough people help with this so that it could be as simple as a yearly commitment for people. Our booth is in the gallery of shops building. Thanks to the Sielers for allowing us space! Please contact Wendy Brys at 517-673-0564 or wendybrys@gmail.com. We could use both English and Spanish speakers to interact with people who visit our both.

Save the Date—High School Seniors

Traditionally we offer a blessing during Mass to all parishioners graduating from high school at the 9:45 a.m. Mass. This recognition and blessing will take place on Sunday, June 5 at 9:45 a.m. Mass. All high school graduates are welcome to attend. So that we may reserve seats for you in the church, please let us know you are coming by E-mailing pastor@stmarysadrian.com.

God bless your week! Fr. Shaun
