What's Happening

  • BOOK SALE – We need book donations!!! Are your book shelves overflowing? Have your children outgrown some great books that would benefit another child? Bring in gently used children’s books you would like to donate to the book fair! Boxes to collect books for donation will be in Cub Scout room; FLC, back right side classroom. All proceeds will go towards playground improvements. The children in the program will be invited to purchase your books during the preschool open house. The book fair will be open to church members on Sunday, August 21st. Thanks for your help!

  • Congregation Wide Luncheon SUNDAY, JULY 31st - Wear a St. Mark's Lutheran Church shirt to 10:00 a.m. worship. Come ready to "sing Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs" (Colossians 3) as we celebrate our life together in Christ. On the last “Unify in July” Sunday, July 31, new members will be received into the congregation during worship, and afterwards we’ll hold a luncheon in the Family Life Center.  We invite all members and their guests to join us!  Please bring a covered dish of an entree, side dish or dessert to help welcome our new members!   • God's Work. Our Hands T-Shirts If you didn’t get to purchase a “God’s Work. Our Hand’s” yellow t-shirt last year, we’ll be offering them again this year to wear at the 9/11 event.  The t-shirts are available in a variety of sizes, will be personalized with St. Mark’s on the back and will sell for $7.00 per shirt. An order form will be available at the “Unify in July” fellowship time after the services and the t-shirts will be delivered in August, well before the 9/11 event. Order yours now!   • Fellowship Group FELLOWSHIP GROUP is sponsoring a bus trip on November 3rd to the Wohlfahrt Haus in Wytheville, Virginia to see the Christmas show. The cost is $55 per person which includes the bus and theatre. This is a dinner show with dinner at 12 and the show starting at 2. The bus will leave the church parking lot at 9:00 a.m. The trip is open to all members of St Marks. Ed Walther is the contact person and all checks are to be made out to him.   • Sr. Lyncs Mission Trip The 2016 Senior LYNC Mission Trip to Virginia Beach is almost upon us.  We will be having a mandatory parent/youth information meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20th.  All parents and youth participating in the mission trip are expected to attend as this will be our chance to share our expectations with you and you can ask any questions, share your thoughts and concerns, etc. We are looking forward to a fun and spirit filled mission trip. Contact Bill Elkin for more information. We will be in Virginia Beach serving with TeamEffort, July 24-30. Thank you St. Mark’s for your prayers and assistance for our 2016 mission trip!

  • Serenity House Volunteers VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - Serenity House, a comfort care home, provides free care to two hospice patients and allows them a place to die with peace and dignity.  Volunteers work in overlapping four hour shifts between the hours of 7am and 11pm and provide bedside care to our patients.  Outside of the four hours, no time commitment is necessary and scheduling can be extremely flexible.  All training is provided and no prior medical experience is needed.  For more information, please contact Kelsey Roberts at 704-664-2004 or kelsey@carolinacomfortcoalition.org.
