  • Guardian Ad Litem Have you ever read a newspaper story about a child who was abused or neglected and wondered what happens to this child? If a child is lucky, their case is assigned to a volunteer Guardian ad Litem. The first thing the volunteer Guardian ad Litem will do is to get to know the child. They will want to know the child’s needs and wishes. Then they make recommendations to the Court. Each child has different circumstances and wishes. Volunteers are the voice of the child in court. Presently there are 41 children in Iredell waiting for a Guardian ad Litem. The Iredell GAL program needs more volunteers.
