Fr Neil Kelley

St Laurence's is delighted with the news that Fr Neil Kelley will be joining our church family as our new Rector in October.  We very much look forward to welcoming him.   Although a southerner by birth, Fr Neil has spent the greater part of his ministry in the north of England having served the Diocese of Liverpool for 15 years.  He is looking forward very much to being part of the family at St Laurence’s.


For the past five years Fr Neil has been the Rector of Bushey in Hertfordshire. He is looking forward to coming to Chorley. He sends his best wishes and he will write to us in the next Parish Magazine. 

His induction service is on 
Tuesday 17th October at 19.00


About Fr Neil

Fr Neil was born in 1964. After leaving school he studied music at the Royal College of Music, London.  During that time he served as organ scholar of St Alban’s Cathedral and later at St George’s Chapel, Windsor where he played for the baptism of Prince Harry!

During this time Neil felt called to serve God as a priest, after being accepted he began a course of study the Cambridge Federation of Theological Colleges based at Wescott House.  He was ordained deacon in the Diocese of London in 1991 and priested in 1992.

He served two curacies in Bedfont and Chiswick, London, before becoming associate Priest of St Chad’s Kirkby and from 1999 to 2012 was Vicar of St Faith’s Great Crosby, both in the Liverpool Diocese.  For the latter part of this time he was Diocesan Adviser on Liturgy and Worship.
