The Music Ministry of St. Joseph's Parish

Welcome to the St. Joseph Catholic Church's Music Ministry!  For those of you involved, thank you for being a part of this wonderful ministry by offering your time and talents to help supplement the Mass.  The music ministry is active at all weekend Masses: Saturdays @ 4:30 P.M. and Sundays @ 7:30 A.M. and 11:00 A.M.  We are also present at weddings, both ceremonies and Masses, as well as funeral Masses.  The ministry is comprised of many musicians, which include cantors, choirs, and instrumentalists.

The primary service performed by the music ministry at St. Joseph is to praise God through music by serving in a leadership role to encourage the active participation of all present.  It is the responsibility of all the people of God to be fully engaged in the liturgy.  From a practical standpoint, however, it must be recognized that not all may fully understand musical aspects and are somewhat dependent on qualified leaders who they can follow.  The musical groups, ensembles and soloists serve in the capacity of leaders.  It is our ministerial role to facilitate the active participation of all present in the liturgical music. With the Eucharist being the most important aspect of the Mass, of course, the music ministry is one of the most important ministries within the church, dating back to the sixth century with Pope Gregory (540 AD - 604 AD) with the creation of Gregorian Chant, used to sing the Mass Ordinary.  From here, music became highly integrated into the Mass and is still evident today.

The music ministry at St. Joseph is one of the most active ministries in the St.  Joseph Parish Community.  We are made up of many volunteers who not only have a strong passion for music but just enjoy music and wish to thank God for the talents that they were given.  As the Director of Music Ministry, I encourage all of you to consider offering your God given talents and become a part of the music ministry.  There are many options available for you in order to fit right in as a musician.  Please see the links below to navigate throughout the website to learn more about the ministry - sacraments, choirs, and even the Director of Music -  and how you can become actively involved in music at St. Joseph's Parish.
Sincerely in Christ,
Adam Fahncke
