St Johns Notes

Our Under 6s travelled to Carryduff and we fielded 2 teams.

We hosted an Under 8 & Under 10 blitz at St. John’s and fielded 2 teams at each age group. There was remarkable support from everyone involved.

Thank you to all our juvenile players, parents, coaches and Committee Members for taking part in the Fleadh parade. A Great night was enjoyed by everyone.

Our walking group went north on Saturday (27th July). And East. Until we could go no further northeast, at least not without wings! We were at Fair Head, one of the most scenic corners of anywhere.

We looped around the top of the high cliffs of Fair Head (180m if you’re asking) with staggering views, first of Ballycastle Bay, then of Rathlin Island with Islay and Jura beyond and then to the Mull of Kintyre. We could see four counties – Antrim and Donegal, and Argyll and Ayrshire.

But our next adventure will take us West. On Saturday 3rd August we are going to Cuilcagh in County Fermanagh to climb the “Stairway to Heaven”. Leaving St John’s at 8.00am. Booking is essential for these and other bus trips – please contact Kevin McGlynn on 078 3596 0804 or kevin.mcglynn62@gmail.comif you are interested in coming along.

Our next midweek outing will be a stroll along the coastal path at Bloody Bridge (between Newcastle and Annalong) on TUESDAY 6th August.

No Jackpot Winner. 5 x £10 winners: Jimmy Slevin, Jimmy Flanagan, Shelia Mc Donald, Adam Walsh, Sinead Smith. £6,450.
