It’s the stuff of childhood dreams- to play in Croke Park. If you have ever imagined yourself on the pitch of Croke park with 82,300 GAA members roaring round you then your dreams may be about to come true.  This fantastic opportunity is open to all St. John’s members who are over 17- male and female.

St. John’s is very honoured to be participating in a match that will help mark 40 years of Official Diplomatic ties and friendship between Ireland and China.

Members of both the Irish and Chinese Governments will be In attendance as well as other distinguished guests. St. John’s GAC would like to extend the very warmest of welcomes to our Friends from China and wish them the very best of luck in the World GAA Games the following week in County Waterford.

Friday 12th July is a special date in our club calendar as it marks the return of our highly successful Golf Classic at Spa Golf Club. There is still time to get your name either displayed at the Tee Box or on the sponsorship board. Contact Eugene O Boyle if you wish to support the club through support of this annual event.

As we are in Holiday mode we would like to see your St. John’s branded gear in different places. Please send in your electronic entries via PM on the Facebook page. There will be prizes in different categories at the end of the Summer. #Topsontour

There was something unusual about the make-up of our walking group as we explored the banks of the Quoile in Downpatrick on Wednesday evening (3rd July) – the men outnumbered the women by 6 to 4. This was the first time in almost four years of walking that the gender balance has swung this way. It was a lovely evening to be out and about with a range of wildlife, historic and Game of Thrones features along the way.

Our next outing is a midweek stroll through Lackan Bog on Wednesday 17th July. The next bus trips will be on Saturday 27th July when we go to Fairhead (next stop Rathlin) and on Saturday 3rd August when we go to Cuilcagh in County Fermanagh to climb the “Stairway to Heaven”. Booking is essential for these and other bus trips – please contact Kevin McGlynn on 078 3596 0804 or kevin.mcglynn62@gmail.comif you are interested in coming along

The Committee wish to extend their condolences to the Family of our esteemed member, Tommy Kelly on the shocking and sad occasion of his recent passing.
