St Johns Notes

- Well Done to St. John’s Senior Team who won their match against Saul. Final score 1-12 - 0- 12 making it 3 wins in a row.

Thanks to Martin Keenan from Funfit Sports who sponsored the match Ball.

- A great result also for St. John’s Reserve Team who won their match against Bredagh 3-17 to 0-14

- Let's hope the beautiful weather continues all the away to Friday 12th July for the St. John's Golf Classic. The deadline for sponsorship is fast approaching so contact Eugene O Boyle if you would like your name/ business name at the Tee Box ( £50) or listed on the sponsorship board (£20).

- Don’t forget to book your child’s place in the fantastic Gaelic Camp for Girls. ( places may not be booked on registration day as they are limited)

We are excited to announce that Cailin from BodyRox will be sponsoring some prizes for our skills competitions and she is also giving a day of her valuable time to come to the  Gaelic Camp for Girls to do some football fitness.

- The Gaelic for Mothers and Others kicked off last Tuesday at 6.30pm with a great turn out. Coaches Gerard and Emma provided a great session and will continue to build on last week’s progress for the next 5 weeks. If you fancy some fun while getting fit- come along. Your abs are guaranteed a workout from laughing.

- Celebrating this weekend is Committee member Mary Boyle who won £1,000 in the Down Club Draw. We are delighted to hear of Mary’s good fortune as she is a very active volunteer within the club.

- After a few days of brilliant sunshine our walking group headed to the seaside on Saturday (29th June). We went for a dander around that coastal path from Orlock to Bangor, about 6½ miles or 10km in total. This was a change to the schedule, allowing us a later start than usual – the trip to Binevenagh will now be at the end of September.

Our next two outings are midweek walks; a riverside walk in Downpatrick this Wednesday (3rd July) and a stroll through Lackan Bog on Wednesday 17th.

The next bus trips will be on Saturday 27th July when we go to Fairhead (next stop Rathlin) and on Saturday 3rd August when we go to Cuilcagh in County Fermanagh to climb the “Stairway to Heaven”. Booking is essential for these and other bus trips – please contact Kevin McGlynn on 078 3596 0804 or kevin.mcglynn62@gmail.comif you are interested in coming along.

- Love is in the air at St. John’s with two of our Men’s Senior Players popping the question in recent weeks.

Congratulations to Harry Mc Mullan and Ladies Player Bria Cunningham.

Celebrating also with a yes to his proposal is Hugh Flanagan. We wish Hugh and his fiancée Channan Savage, Harry and Bria, a lifetime of happiness.

- Congratulations to U14/16 Coach Gerard Magorrian and his wife Coach Rosemarie on the special occasion of their Diamond anniversary - 30 years. The happy couple were celebrating their anniversary last weekend at the Slieve Donard where they also tied the knot! They were back to coaching duties on Sunday to manage the U14s in the second leg of the league with the girls winning against Bredagh. 5-10 - 2-1

- Congratulations to Conor and Martine Morgan on the birth of their baby boy.

- The Committee wish to offer their condolences to the family of our lifelong member Sean Cochrane on the occasion of his sad passing.
