St. John's GAC notes - W/C 7 August 2017

Thanks to everyone who baked and helped out at Sunday mornings Coffee Morning in aid of the NI Air Ambulance. Thanks also to everyone who turned up and donated.

A massive £5,501.30 was raised.

Championship weekend this weekend with our Senior men taking on Leitrim at 2pm on Saturday in Castlewellan and our ladies play Teconnaught at 7pm at home. All support is welcome.

Walking Group: Fofanny Dam

Our walking group started a busy week with a trip along the Ulster Way near Fofanny Dam on Saturday (6th August). Map reading skills were to the fore for this outing – as we found a route that was downhill all the way!

We are back out this Wednesday (9th August) – probably going to Lackan Bag near Ballyroney if the weather is kinder than the last time this was on the agenda (leaving the club at 7.00pm) and on Saturday 12th we are going to Blue Lough (leaving the club at 9.30am.)

Looking forward ahead we have a “parent and child” walk to Castlewellan on Saturday 2nd September. This is to give an opportunity who may otherwise have child-minding restrictions (or parent minding, depending on your perspective) to come along. The walk won’t be very strenuous, is likely to pass the playground and may involve getting parents and/or kids lost in the maze. There are no age restrictions on this or any walk.
