How to find St John's

St John's is in an area which is pedestrianised (no legal vehicle access) from 10.00 am to midnight daily  (Sundays included). The incoming route is via Westgate St, Guildhall Lane, Wharton St & the exit via St John's Square.  (See the attachment 'DeliveryMap-ChurchStreet-Repaving Works' below).  This is blocked by bollards outside the access hours.  Contact the Priest-in-Charge or church office to arrange access at other times.

To reach St John's Church

If you arrive in Cardiff by train, coach or bus at Cardiff Central station, the entire parish is on the north side of the railway line. On the south side is the Cardiff Bay parish of St Mary's. Go right along Wood Street, at the juntion with St Mary street, cross the road, and turn left. Walk up St Mary Street towards the castle. Turn second right and you will see the fine fifteenth century tower of the Parish Church of St John the Baptist ahead of you. If you come by car on the M4 from the Swansea direction, leave the motorway at the A470 junction and head towards the city centre. On the M4 from Newport, take the A48(M) in the direction of the city centre. Follow the signs for the University Hospital. Take the exit immedately after the hospital exit. Take second exit from the junction's roundabout and folllow the A470 into the city centre. This is North Road. After a mile you will see Cardiff Castle on your right, with car parks below its walls, and the Civic centre, also with car parking, to your left.

N.B. The central area around the church is a pedestrian precinct. The nearest multi-storey car park on the west side is in Westgate Street opposite the Millennium Stadium and at the east side entrance to the St Davids-Dewi Sant shopping centre.
