Infant room has separate scheduled hours,Infant room families choose a schedule, either 7:30-5, 8-5:30 or 8:30-6. It is possible to have different schedules on different days, or occasionally having a longer day, when planned ahead.
NEW SHORT DAY SCHEDULE
Families can opt for a "short day schedule" for toddlers & preschoolers, which means if you pick up by 4pm you receive a 10% tuition discount.
For babies, a short day schedule is less then eight hours, for the same 10% discount.
Effective through August 31, 2014
To finalize your enrollment, a deposit of one month's tuition is required. The deposit will be credited to your first month's tuition and enrollment fee. Families who have siblings enrolled at the same time receive a 10% discount on the oldest child's tuition, families with more then two children enrolled receive an additional 5% discount (Youngest child full tuition, middle children 5% discount, oldest child 10% discount - while siblings are attending together). Alumni siblings receive priority on the waiting list but do not receive a sibling discount
Tuition for continuing families is set the spring of each fiscal year (July-June) and is billed monthly, due on the 25th of the month preceding care. There is a one-time, initial Enrollment fee of $425/child (only first year), and an annual $250 Supply, Equipment & Materials fee (included in Enrollment fee your first year), which is due September 1st each year.
Up to 25% of our families receive some form of tuition assistance, which can range from 5%-95% of tuition.
St. John's Childcare no longer has a contract with the California Department of Education (CDE).
We do have a tuition assistance program to provide spaces to families who are income eligible (generally limited to families whose combined income does not exceed $75,000 annually), and meet certain need and eligibility requirements. There is also a limited amount of scholarship funding from the City of Berkeley for low-income Berkeley residents.
All families are required to make a financial contribution towards their child's tuition. Sliding scale below is a guideline, generally we are not able to fund very many families at these rates. For example, for the 2012-2013 fiscal year, we distributed $48,000 in tuition assistance.
Income guidelines/Sliding Scale based on family of four
(subject to adjustment depending on family size, schedule and age of child)
Families of currently enrolled children with incomes between $75,000 and $100,000 will be
considered in the fifth/final category (20%) if funds are still available
Like most quality Bay Area childcare programs, St. John's Childcare generally has a long waitlist.
Please call us at 510-549-9342 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a tour for a current opening. Tours are generally scheduled to start between 9:30 & 11, or between 2:30 and 4:30 and usually take about 30-45 minutes to complete. If you are trying to schedule a tour for a current opening, it is helpful if you include in your message or email some days and times that would work for you.
We regret that we are unable to give tours unless there is a space available, as the tour process is disruptive for the children currently enrolled, especially the babies & toddlers.
