Miss Childress - Music, Chorus, and Band

Experience:
My teaching career began after I graduated from Susquehanna University in 2011. I moved to eensy weensy Balko, Oklahoma and taught in an independent school district. There, I taught all students in grades K-12 general music, directed the junior high and senior high bands and choirs, and provided before-school and after-school small group and individual rehearsals. Recently, I taught 6th through 8th grade general music, and directed the grade-level choruses, as well as the select competitive chorus in Cambridge, Maryland.

Bio:
I am one of five children, three of which are married and starting their own families. I have six nephews, all under the age of 5, and finally have a niece as of this summer! I have my own fur baby, Zoey, who loves to chase birds, butterflies, regular flies, flashlights, lasers, shadows... nearly anything the moves. She keeps me active and I won't change a thing about her!
Welcome to Music!
I am so happy to be back at St. Jane Frances for the 2017-2018 school year! I again have the pleasure of teaching at two schools for the Archdiocese.  I will be at St. Jane Frances all day Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesday afternoons. I will be at St. Joan of Arc on Wednesday mornings, all day Thursdays and Fridays.  Please refer to the left side-bar for Calendar notifications, General Music updates, Ensemble news, and other important information.

I am happy to begin my 3rd year of music making with SJF, and my 7th year of teaching!

Education:
My education began when I first attended St. Joan of Arc as a kindergarten student. From there, I continued my Catholic education through high school. I graduated from York Catholic High School in 2007, and was accepted to attend Susquehanna University.

While at Susquehanna, I studied Music Education K-12 with a vocal emphasis. I participated in multiple performance ensembles (University Chorale, University Choir, Chamber Singers, and Opera Studio) and performed a solo recital my junior year. I graduated in 2011 and began my teaching career.

Since then, I have received my Masters in Teaching and Learning from NOVA Southeastern University, and am currently pursuing my Masters in Music Education through Loyola University.
