Upcoming Events

A Message from the Church Council and the Worship Committee:  The 225th Anniversary Committee would like your ideas and help to organize and plan a display of Saint James Church history in the glass display cases.  This fall we will dig up the 25-year time capsule and bury a 50-year capsule.  Also, other thoughts are to have an old fashioned hymn sing and other special celebrations and renewal activities in late October.  Please let Donna Benson, Pastor Pat or Dessie Moxley know that you will serve on this special committee.

E.S.C.A.P.E. Ministries “Afternoon of Music” Concert will be held on Sunday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m.  The concert will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 7538 Main Street, Sykesville, MD 21784.  Admission is free, however a freewill offering will be received.

Circuit Riders will be meeting on Thursday, May 4 at 7:30 pm at the church for a slideshow presentation of Tom Shipley’s recent trip to Cambodia and Myanmar.  All are invited to attend this evening of fellowship and refreshments.

St. James Annual Spring Fling will be held on Saturday, May 13th.  Please keep the Camp Hope Team in mind when you are doing your spring cleaning.  We gratefully accept gently used lawn and garden items, household and home décor items, books, artwork, collectibles, linens, purses, jewelry, small furnishings and lots of other items.  We cannot accept clothing or stuffed animals.  If you have any questions or would like to schedule a pick up of your donations, please contact Barbara Anderson at 410-442-8211.

SJUMC plans on participating in the Baltimore County Christian Workcamp (BCCW) for the 9th year during the week of July 16th. This will be the 34th year the BCCW has performed home repairs and provided assistance for the needy in Baltimore County by volunteers of all ages during the third week of July. Two years ago we had a very satisfying experience of helping 2 families by building 2 ramps, first a 50 foot by 4 foot wide ramp in Catonsville and then a 36 foot ramp, in cooperation with Wards Chapel, for a couple who had built an addition onto their daughters house, but could not move into the addition until a ramp was installed. We already have donations from the Circuit Riders and individuals to cover costs for all participants, no monies will come from the Saint James budget. All are welcome to volunteer anywhere from 1 to 5 days. Please let Mike Bostron (410.489.4059 or email Michael.Bostron@gmail.com) know as soon as you can if you are interested in participating this year or would like to donate to BCCW. Also, each volunteer will need to fill out an information form available on the down stairs information table or from Mike and return to Mike.
