Classes designed, lead, and taught by
Sandi Blackwell of "Stitched Buy".
We are a group of quilters who meet the fourth Monday of every month for a block of the month class. We have been meeting since 2003 and currently meet at the Finishing Touches Quilt Shop in Moundsville, WV.
We have completed several quilts, including "Twinkling Stars", "Baskets", "50 States", "Three-Dimensional Blocks", "Mystery Quilt", "Jessica's Quilt", and just completed
For 2014 the two new designs are "Jonathan's Quilt" and "Houses Quilt". Jonathan's Quilt is sampler style quilt designed for my son as a wedding quilt. Houses Quilt is a variety of house blocks set in a scattered setting.
In 2013 I created a new design called "Lucky 13". It is a creative new design and none of the blocks utilize "Y" seams.
We are also having a second class on the design from my latest book "Square-agonals; 12 Easy Pieces". It is a block of the month design with each block created using the Square-agonals method.
In 2012 we worked on a design for a "Strip Quilt" in two design options and two sizes, Christmas and Autumn. This quilt is made in "strips" of repeated blocks, then the strips are sewn together with different sashing designs. The blocks are 10" and 6" in size. The quilt is completed with blocks that create a pieced pine tree border.
Our plans for 2011 were continuing
the "Dear Jane" series, followed by my quilt design "Jessica's Quilt". This quilt was designed with my daughter in mind. It will be twelve different blocks in a diagonal setting using my "Square-agonals" technique. That class was followed by Eleanor Burns "American Barn" quilt series.
Our quilt for 2010 was a "Mystery Quilt" I designed which incorporates the sashing and borders into the completed blocks.
In 2009 we started the "Dear Jane" series and will finish it in December 2012.
We meet on the 4th Monday of every month. We start our block of the month series at 9:30am with the Lucky 13 blocks, then the Square-agonals 12 Easy Pieces blocks
We open our class to visitors and new members. Most of us have
been together for many years, yet we welcome new faces. Feel free
to sit in on any class to see
what we are all about.
Guests always welcome!
The fee schedule for 2014 stays the same. $7.00 for attending one class, and $10 if you attend both classes, which I teach back to back. Class begins at 9:30 a.m. Both classes, plus a show and tell, runs about two hours.
If you are interested in our group, please contact me or stop in. Check the calendar for any scheduling changes.
