The Throne, The Table of Life, The Tomb of the Lord, are the different names for the Altar.The step in front of the altar denotes the Sehion Mansion where the New Testament takes over from Old Testament.
This is a wooden or marble slab on which the Paten and Chalice are placed. It is 18 inches long with a width of 9 inches. The Holy Qurbana can be celebrated any where with this slab even in a place where there is no alter. The Qurbana cannot be celebrated without this slab.
It depicts the Tree of Life in the garden of Eden. It is consecrated with Mooron at the time of consecration of the church. It is covered with a silk coverings of red, green and white one above the other and the Paten and Chalice are placed on it. The red represents the omnipresence of God in the universe, green represents the world and the church is represented with white. On any particular day only one Qurbana can be celebrated on one Thablitho.
The cross installed at the center signifies the budded staff of Aron. It also reminds us that we are protected from Satan.
The candles on the altar remind us about the saying of our lord "I am the light of the world" John 1:8, 8:12. Seven candles represent the golden lamp of the Jerusalem temple. Twelve represent the apostles.Mathew 5:14 The candles also reminds us that our lives should also be lit bright by the Holy Spirit.
It is the beautiful decorative covering on the altar.It reminds us about the cloth used for wrapping the body of our Lord during burial.
It is a Satin cloth stiched with pieces of different colours to cover the Tablitho.
It is a white cloth for covering the Chalice and Paten. It signifies a number of things.
The swaddling clothes of Baby Jesus in the manger (Luke 2:7), the seamless garment worn by our Lord (John 19:23), the 'Shekina' (light) over the covanent box (Numbers 9:15), the cloud that over-shadowd at the time of transfiguration (Mathew 17:5), the veil covering the ministry of the Holy Spirit - the veil that remained during the Old Testament days is removed by Jesus Christ (2Cor.3:7-18). One corner of the Shoosepho is folded up to signify the transformation from Old Testament to new Testament.
it a piece of cloth for covering the Chalice and Paten separately when they are not covered together with Shoosepho.
it is a small cushion used for placing the spoon. it is also used for wiping the lips of children after Communion.
This is used by the priest to wipe his fingers before handling the holy articles. Also used for wiping the Chalice and Paten.
This is a table used for placing the Holy Bible. It reminds us of the Sermon on the mount by our lord.
The Doopakutti (Censer)
This is a special vessel for burning incense. The smell of incense represents the church.It reminds us to dedicate ourselves to God (Eph. 5:2). "He gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." In Rev 8:3-4 we read about the smoke of the incense together with the prayers of saints going up to God.While the lower cup of the censer represents the earth, the upper cup represents the heaven.The chain represent the Holy Trinity.Two chains represent the human and godly nature of the Son, while the other two represent the Father and the holy Spirit. The twelve bells on the chain represent the apostles. The 72 links represents the 72 evangelists.While the charcoal represent sinners, the fire represents the Holy Spirit and the Kunthirikum (incense) represents the Grace of the Holy Trinity.
It is a round disc with bells all round, mounted on a pole. Two persons standing on both side make a jingling sound by shaking the pole at specific occations during worship.This represents the angels in heaven fluttering their wings.
This is a beautifully decorated round vessel for preserving the Holy Qurbana. This is not found in all the churches.

This bell is used to proclaim important occasions during worship
The Big bell
This bell is used to inform the time of worship and for reminding the important occasion during worship.Thsi bell is fixed at the top of the church. We should make the sign of the cross when we hear the bell ring. It is used during the following occasions.
