Organ Recitals

St George's has one of the best organs in the North East. It is a Father Willis, maintained by Harrison's of Durham and is played regularly.

"There is something quite exceptional about the Willis in St George's Church, and it stands, unchanged by fashion,
as a tribute to a great artist" - Philip Moore.

"The St George's organ is an utter gem and it ... has to be one of the best instruments in Britain" - Simon Lindley.

I was "Quite unprepared for the utter magnificence of the Willis Organ in St George's Gateshead. Perfection in just 30 stops." - Daniel Cook.
