Welcome to the St. George's Bowling Club web site!
The site was a new venture started in 2010 with the aim of providing an insight in to the history, plans and current affairs of the most successful Crown Green bowling club in Telford.
The site will hopefully help to highlight what has made the Club so successful over many years and introduce to visitors some of the Club's achievements at both team and individual levels.
Any suggestions as to future topics or pages which would help us to achieve a site packed with useful, informative and entertaining items are most welcome and can be sent to us via our e-mail address:

So please, do come and take a look around!!!

St. George's bottom green with a view of the two pavilions
Club Updates
The greens are being cut regularly by Ray Hawthorne and are now nearing readiness for the St. Georges Open starting on Saturday 3rd March and running throughout March.

They have been treated on a regular basis for moss and fusarium and we are currently trying to deter foxes and squirrels from digging them up. The latest attempt is 'Chilli flakes'. Any other ideas gratefully received.

The irrigation system will be commissioned on 15th February

Work party on Saturday 17th February - 9.30am to open the pavilions and set the grounds up for the new season

Paul Beer and Alison Cotton have already started work sprucing up the insides of the top pavilion with any help gratefully received to complete this work and some other painting in and around the greens area to both smarten the place up and provide some health and safety measures for our members and visitors

New season - new look
Eight new 'SGBC' stamped Thomas Taylor jacks are on their way to be complimented this year by some new footers (Mats to most of us). We thought we'd push the boat out with some red babies.
Got a jack - bring it back
As usual at this time of year we appear to be short of a few jacks, so if you could all just check your bags please and return any that might have inadvertently found there way in there it would be much appreciated.

Advertising Opportunities
We are offering businesses small and large a relatively inexpensive opportunity to advertise their business and services around our greens in 2018

For as little as £100 they can place a 3.0m x 0.2m banner, which we will supply  (£150 for two) around our green for the duration of the St. Georges Open in March and for the remainder of the bowling season

This will ensure their business message reaches both a local and national audience of thousands due to the footfall through the facilities during the period March to October

If you know anyone who might benefit from this value for money opportunity such as your hairdresser, barber, local Indian or Chinese takeaway or even the multi-national you may work for, please contact any of the Committee for more details or ask them to e-mail us at stgeorgesbowls@gmail.com
