Engineering students at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ are required to complete a Senior Design Project as part of their graduation requirements. Senior design allows students to demonstrate the knowledge gathered throughout their education at Stevens by planning and executing a design project. These projects are completed over the course of an academic year. Students are given the opportunity to choose a predetermined project or create their own.
Our team chose to come up with our own project that will allow us to create a product for children with autism. Through our interactions with these children and conversations with those who work closely with them, we have identified a gap in age appropriate toys available for children affected autism.
The goal of this project is to create a toy that meets the specific needs of children with autism by embracing their interests and helping them grow and develop into successful adults.
