Need lodging in Lima, Peru?

Most of the flights from Lima to Cusco are in the morning. It may be that your flight to Lima will land you there in the evening so you will need to spend a night in Lima. If you don't want to spend the night in the airport, here are some tips on lodging in Lima.

Miraflores is considered the safest district in Lima. It is about 40 minute drive from the airport. If you want a 3-5 star hotel, you might want to search internet the interent for lodging in Lima and select a hotel in Miraflores.

If you are looking for a low cost option, I booked a private single room at a hostel in Miraflores though www.hostelbookers.com. This is a very reliable site with reviews from travelers that have stayed there.

K'usillu's Backpackers Hostel

It has very high ratings and good reviews. A private room is approximately $13 per night single occupancy. Expect to pay approximately twice that for 2 people.. They also have dormitory-type shared rooms. Airport pick up is about $14 one way. K'usillu's will arrange the pick up for you.

Pay Purix Backpackers Hostel

This is not as nice or as safe a neighborhood as Miraflores but only 5 minutes from the airport. And that means it's also only 5 minutes back to the airport, if you have an early morning flight. Recently we did have one, so we tried staying there. Simple but clean. Very friendly, helpful, English-speaking owners. They got us a cab to the Archeology museum, at a reasonable price. They will help you order meals delivered from nearby restaurants.. A private room is $23 per night single occupancy. Includes breakfast - coffee, toast, juice, egg. Airport pickup is $6. Late night or wee hours of the morning taxi's to airport will be more expensive, about $10. This also has very high ratings and good reviews.

Ramada Costa Del Sol - Lima Airport

Two minute walk from the baggage claim. We have not stayed here but have some good friends that have. Super convenient. $150 per night.click here for details

Cusco

San Blas district - San Blas is the international, artsy district in Peru.A fun, safe neighborhood Many low cost yet comfortable lodging options here. Our favorite is Pakcha Real. 300 Tandapata, San Blas. www.hostalpalchareal.com Rooms with private baths during high season are about $25 per night. Shared bath is less. Free wi-fi, continental breakfast. This is mostly our favorite because of the free wi-fi and friendly staff who let us check out at 11am and stay in the lobby for another couple of hours using their wi-fi which we sometimes really needed to do business in a quite location.

Taypikala Hotel Cusco. Calle Ahuacpinta Street Nr 625

Near Qorikancha or the Temple of the Sun, only three blocks from the Plaza de Armas - Main Square. $70 per night. Three star. We have stayed here. Very nice. The owner is a wonderful healer and ceremonialist named Jorge Luis Delgado who we have worked with in his home town of Puno, near lake Titicaca.. He has set aside a meditation court in this hotel. Includes buffet breakfast.

Pisac

When we arrive in Cusco, we head right way to the small city of Pisac. It's a good place to transition into high-altitude conditions. Pisac is along the banks of the Urubamba River that has carved the Sacred Valley of the Inca. We go here right away for a few reasons. It is only 35 minutes by taxi from Cusco. The elevation is about 8,000 feet above sea level as opposed to Cusco which is about 11,500. It is low key, small and friendly. Here's a glimpse of Pisac.

Hospedaje Kinsa Cocha, Calle Arequipa 307

Run by the friendly Familia Chalco. About $20 per person per night private bath, $12 per night shared bath. Add $3 if you want breakfast of egg, toast and coffee. Close to the square but not so close that you will be bothered by the noise of the vendors who set up their stalls early each morning (set starts about 5am). We do not recommend any of the hostels on the square in Pisac due to the early morning set up noise.

Paz y Luz

Located a 5 minute taxi ride outside of Pisac, Paz y Luz is super quiet. $40 per night, private bath. includes continental breakfast (tea and bread). Owner and staff speak English and also offer several healing modalities and massage. We have stayed here. Very relaxing. Owner, Diane, is friendly and helpful.
