Sweatin' Burnt Orange Bike Tour

The Sweatin’ Burnt Orange Bike Tour was held on November 2nd In Blanco TX. It was pleasant in the morning, in the low 60s, somewhat warmer than last year (this was also the 1st day of standard time, so the sun was up an hour earlier). The wind was from the south/southeast but not very strong. There were several difficult climbs (more than I remembered from last year!), especially the one just before rest stop #5, at Old Tunnel Wildlife Management Area.

After the ride, some tasty BBQ and Real Ale beer was served in the Blanco town square, a good way to finish off a long day's ride.

  • Ride Time:4:05:57
  • Distance: 73.20 miles
  • Average speed: 17.8 mph

The ride was done using the road bike. I posted a some pictures here and a blog entry.

Outlaw Trail 100

The Outlaw Trail Ride was held on October 20th, starting in Round Rock, TX, (starting/ending at Old Settler's Park) and proceeding through the rolling terrain east and north of town. The weather was mild, about 70 in the morning, and later got quite warm (~90). The wind was relentless, blowing from the SE/S/SW. This made the 2nd half of the ride quite difficult. Even though less hilly than the Challenge ride, I found this one more difficult.

My Stats:

  • Ride Time: 5:19:31
  • Distance: 89.22 miles
  • Average speed: 16.70 mph

I'm a bit dubious of the time and distance, since last year's ride had significantly different (larger) numbers. The route seemed the same, so I'm a bit baffled about the difference.

I posted a few pictures here and wrote a blog entry.

The ride was done using the road bike.
