Infographics are the blending of design and data. They are sometimes referred to as "visual data." This project requires students to use both the analytical and creative/artistic sides of their brain. This is an excellent collaborative project that can be combined with data aggregation and analysis. Some students will excel at the manipulation of data while others will excel at the presentation of it. A successful lab group will have both types of individuals in it.
Project Ideas
  • Have an entire class use the same data to create an infographic. You'l be amazed at the unique designs they come up with!
  • Have students create infographics in Google Presentation. Multiple students can assemble the pieces for the infographic simultaneously on separate slides.
  • This project will be overwhelming for some students. Help them out by having them model their infographic after an existing one.
  • Use this project to discuss the responsibility to use data appropriately. Liars use numbers!
  • Infographics should be displayed on a class blog or wiki for others to enjoy.
