This site was created to be a career resource specifically for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Majors planning their futures and trying to figure out what their next steps will be after graduation.  As part of Siena College’s Career Preparation Seminar students compiled a list of commonly asked questions about grad school, research and career options for science majors.  Students then went out and researched each of these questions and compiled what they learned here.

If you aren't yet a STEM major, but are considering becoming one, the Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH) produced by the U.S. department of labor statistics may help you decide on which major is best for you. We've created a STEM specific gateway to the OOH here

Topics:

Undergrad Concerns

What can I do with my major other than the stereotypical career path?

Should I pursue the 3/2 engineering program?

Is it better to do research or an internship as an undergrad?

Post-Undergrad Options

Should I go to grad school right after college, or into the workforce?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of temporarily forgoing grad school?
