TUNGS


TUNGS is a language translation application.  It translates what you say to a target language.  The target language can be French, German, Spanish or Italian.  TUNGS also responds to commands described below as well as translating short cuts for frequently used phrases.  For instance, saying DOCTOR will result in TUNGS translating "I NEED A DOCTOR" in the target language.  A list of commands and short cuts can be obtained from TUNGS by saying LIST SHORT CUTS.  TUNGS is a very valuable traveling tool. TUNGS currently recognizes English to translate to other languages. Future releases will understand other languages as Google voice recognition is expanded.

To use TUNGS, start up the application.  You must have also activated Speech Synthesis on your phone. To do this, go to settings > Speech synthesis > Install Voice Data.  Also, make sure "always use my settings" is NOT checked! 
TUNGS will start and open up the microphone to listen to what you say. The first time you start it, it will ask you your name so it can use it in conversation if you like.


TUNGS starts up and opens and closes the microphone automatically for you.  When you see Speak Now, simply speak and TUNGS will translate whatever you say to the target language.  The target language is set to English when TUNGS starts up.  To change the target language, say TO LANGUAGE xxxx where xxxx is the language you want to translate to to speak.  TUNGS can translate to French, German, Italian and Spanish using Google Translation services.  More languages will be added in the future.




TUNGS displays what is being translated to and from during the translation.  If you want to redisplay the 
translation text, cancel the microphone and touch the screen, the text will be redisplayed and the mic will come back on.











TUNGS also will translate SHORTCUTS that you say.  For instance, if you say DOCTOR, it will submit "PLEASE GET ME A DOCTOR" for translation.  The SHORTCUTS are common phrases for travel.  You can hear them by saying LIST SHORTCUTS.







Requires network connection.

(The microphone closes and asks you to push the speak again button if you haven't said anything for 10 seconds.)

* To see ABOUT text, touch cancel button then touch menu and ABOUT.

The microphone will detect what you say and TUNGS responds then reopens the microphone again to continue the translation activity.

* If the "Speak Now" window doesn't appear, just touch screen to resume 
conversing.  If "No Speech Heard", hit speak again button on screen to resume.

TUNGS also responds to commands as follows:  
  1. To hear a list of the translation shortcuts, say LIST SHORT CUTS.
  2. To hear a basic help, say HELP.  
  3. To add two numbers together, say the numbers as follows: ONE PLUS TWO, TEN PLUS EIGHTEEN, etc.  
  4. To subtract, say: TEN MINUS EIGHT, etc.
  5. To multiple, say: TEN TIMES TEN, etc.  
  6. To divide, say: ONE HUNDRED DIVIDED BY TEN.  
  7. It even does square roots, say: SQUARE ROOT OF SIXTEEN, etc.
  8. Say TOTAL to hear the accumulation of the results of all your math 
  9. calculations.
  10. To have TUNGS count to ten, say: COUNT TO TEN.
  11. To have TUNGS say the alphabet, say: ALPHABET.
  12. Say REMEMBER followed by whatever word or phrase you want to remember to have TUNGS store it.
  13. Say MEMORY to hear what was stored in memory (only one thing at a time)  
  14. To make the phone vibrate, say VIBRATE.  
  15. To see settings, say: SETTINGS.  
  16. To see ring tone, say: RINGER.  
  17. To bring up a browser, say BROWSER.  
  18. To find out how to spell words, say HOW DO YOU SPELL <ANYWORD(s)>.  ENGLISH ONLY.  
  19. To have TUNGS use your name in conversation, say USE MY NAME.
  20. To have TUNGS not use your name in conversation, say DON'T  USE MY NAME.  
  21. To change your name, say: ASK ME MY NAME.  
  22. To have TUNGS ask the next user for his or her name, say RESET.  RESET will erase the stored name and end TUNGS. When started again, it will ask for a name at very beginning.
  23. To have TUNGS convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius, say FAHRENHEIT XX where XX is the Fahrenheit temperature you wish to covert.  Say CELSIUS XX to get the Fahrenheit temperature from the Celsius. 
  24. To exit TUNGS, say: TURN OFF.  The application will end.
  25. To reactivate TUNGS listening mode, if it stops, touch the screen anywhere.

IMPORTANT:  TUNGS requires Speech Synthesis to be 
activated.  To do that, Go to settings > Speech synthesis > Install
Voice Data.  Also, make sure "always use my settings" is NOT checked!

End User License Agreement

END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR TUNGS IMPORTANT PLEASE READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING OR USING:TUNGS End-User License Agreement ("EULA") is a legal agreement between you (either an individual or a single entity) and TUNGS DEVELOPER. for the TUNGS DEVELOPER software product(s) identified above which may include associated software components, media, printed materials, and "online" or electronic documentation ("SOFTWARE PRODUCT"). By installing, copying, or otherwise using the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, you agree to be bound by the terms of this EULA. This license agreement represents the entire agreement concerning the program between you and TUNGS DEVELOPER, (referred to as "licenser"), and it supersedes any prior proposal, representation, or understanding between the parties. If you do not agree to the terms of this EULA, do not install or use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is protected by copyright laws and international copyright treaties, as well as other intellectual property laws and treaties. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is licensed, not sold.

1. GRANT OF LICENSE. 
The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is licensed as follows: 
(a) Installation and Use.
TUNGS DEVELOPER grants you the right to install and use copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT on your computer running a validly licensed copy of the operating system for which the SOFTWARE PRODUCT was designed [ANDROID].
(b) Backup Copies.
You may also make copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT as may be necessary for backup and archival purposes.

2. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER RIGHTS AND LIMITATIONS.
(a) Maintenance of Copyright Notices.
You must not remove or alter any copyright notices on any and all copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.
(b) Distribution.
You may not distribute registered copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT to third parties. Evaluation versions available for download from TUNGS DEVELOPER's websites may be freely distributed.
(c) Prohibition on Reverse Engineering, Decompilation, and Disassembly.
You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, except and only to the extent that such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law notwithstanding this limitation. 
(d) Rental.
You may not rent, lease, or lend the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.
(e) Support Services.
TUNGS DEVELOPER may provide you with support services related to the SOFTWARE PRODUCT ("Support Services"). Any supplemental software code provided to you as part of the Support Services shall be considered part of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT and subject to the terms and conditions of this EULA. 
(f) Compliance with Applicable Laws.
You must comply with all applicable laws regarding use of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

3. TERMINATION 
Without prejudice to any other rights, TUNGS DEVELOPER may terminate this EULA if you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this EULA. In such event, you must destroy all copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT in your possession.

4. COPYRIGHT
All title, including but not limited to copyrights, in and to the SOFTWARE PRODUCT and any copies thereof are owned by TUNGS DEVELOPER or its suppliers. All title and intellectual property rights in and to the content which may be accessed through use of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT is the property of the respective content owner and may be protected by applicable copyright or other intellectual property laws and treaties. This EULA grants you no rights to use such content. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by TUNGS DEVELOPER.

5. NO WARRANTIES
TUNGS DEVELOPER expressly disclaims any warranty for the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is provided 'As Is' without any express or implied warranty of any kind, including but not limited to any warranties of merchantability, noninfringement, or fitness of a particular purpose. TUNGS DEVELOPER does not warrant or assume responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of any information, text, graphics, links or other items contained within the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. TUNGS DEVELOPER makes no warranties respecting any harm that may be caused by the transmission of a computer virus, worm, time bomb, logic bomb, or other such computer program. TUNGS DEVELOPER further expressly disclaims any warranty or representation to Authorized Users or to any third party.

6. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
In no event shall TUNGS DEVELOPER be liable for any damages (including, without limitation, lost profits, business interruption, or lost information) rising out of 'Authorized Users' use of or inability to use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, even if TUNGS DEVELOPER has been advised of the possibility of such damages. In no event will TUNGS DEVELOPER be liable for loss of data or for indirect, special, incidental, consequential (including lost profit), or other damages based in contract, tort or otherwise. TUNGS DEVELOPER shall have no liability with respect to the content of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT or any part thereof, including but not limited to errors or omissions contained therein, libel, infringements of rights of publicity, privacy, trademark rights, business interruption, personal injury, loss of privacy, moral rights or the disclosure of confidential information.
