Steenbokfontein is the ideal base from which to explore all that the West Coast has to offer.

Steenbokfontein boasts one of the largest and most impressive cave sites along the west coast of the Western Cape ( among a few sites in this region with a long-term occupational history.)
The caves are not accessible to the general public but your host, Herman Burger, can arrange a visit to this unique site on his farm.

Accommodation is limited to three well equipped self-catering units which started off life as stables shearing shed at the turn of the century.

The farm Steenbokfontein is currently in the process of establishing a vineyard - not at all  common in this area. 
Also grows potatoes and keeps a selection of livestock.
Host Herman is also a collector of anything as old (or older) than himself - including army trucks and                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               tractors

This warship ran aground on the rocks exactly west of the chalets in January 1901.

One of the (two) propellors of the Sybille and many other items of interest can be seen at the Museum in Lamberts Bay.
