Pastoral and Practical Care

Even with our buildings closing, we are not disappearing. St Clements is more than buildings. It is a community. We are therefore setting up the following pastoral and practical care system. This is open to anyone who would find it useful, not just church members.

1. People are invited to join our mutual support phone network.

People are being given a specific person to call at least twice a week. It might be for a brief chat, or a longer conversation (especially for those in isolation). If you discover any practical problems you can then contact the parish mobile phone and we can arrange help (delivery of some shopping etc).

Someone will also have your name and phone number to contact you.

If you cannot get a reply please call the parish mobile and we'll go round and check.

This is in additional to all the normal phoning round, chatting, and gossiping(!) that people do. But I want us to have a systematic approach to avoid, as much as possible, people falling through any gaps. This is going to be a marathon not a sprint.

2. I am drawing up a list of people who are happy to run errands, especially for those in isolation.

Prayer and Spiritual support

After we have got our pastoral and practical care system up and running (that is the first priority). We will be looking at resources people can use at home. I am keen our collective worship continues in some form- it will just be online.

In the meantime please do contact any of the clergy for a prayer and a chat.
