1st XI Caps & Honours

St Bede's College 1st XI Cap Number (2000-2016)

This year the St Bede's College Cricket Club is introducing 1st XI playing numbers. The tradition of having a playing number embroidered on test players caps and shirts was started in 1999 by Steve Waugh the Australian cricket captain of the time. We do not have records at the school to go back to 1911 and trace all 1st XI cricketers, so are starting this tradition from the 2000 St Bede's College 1st XI team. Having gone through copies of The Beaden from 2000-2015 the St Bede's 1st XI players and playing numbers can be seen below.

Starting a tradition such as this can provide challenges! Not all 15 years of The Beaden contained the same amount of information and it is very likely  that not all players listed in The Beaden under the 1st XI cricket information may have actually played enough games to have officially received their red baggy and hence may not have been officially 'capped'. However without having a list of officially capped players we are including all of the players mentioned below as now being 'capped'.  If any players are missing that were capped please email Paul Dolan (dolanpaul1@me.com) with the year/s they played. This information would be greatly received.

1st XI Cricket Honours Board (2000-2016)

In addition to the cap numbers we are also looking at recognising those Beadens who have scored 100s for the 1st XI or taken 5 or more wickets in a game. Again this information has been taken from copies of The Beaden (2000-2015) and also has been challenging. Some years it was mentioned that players had taken 5 or more wickets but no details as to who against or specific figures. To the best of my ability I have captured the data below. Any assistance with missing figures would be greatly received. Please email Paul Dolan (dolanpaul1@me.com) with the appropriate figures, opposition and year that it occurred. Please note that there was no information in the 2004 Beaden about that year's 1st XI. Any information from that year would be appreciated.
