Tubing on the Shenandoah River (and Optional Camping)

Depart St. Thomas at 9:00 a.m., return around 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. (depending on the water level)

Join STAY for its annual Shenandoah River tubing trip! STAY Cool participants will enjoy three or four hours of relaxation tubing down the Shenandoah River in (hopefully) sunny weather. We're going to Bentonville, VA (located along the South Fork of the Shenandoah River), which entails an approximately 1.5 hour drive to the Downriver Canoe Company. Things You Should Bring

- Sunscreen
- Water-worthy shoes (old sneakers are OK, but flip-flops are not)
- Food
- Drinks

NOTE: GLASS CONTAINERS ARE FORBIDDEN. STAY will provide some bottled water and a few coolers to share.

Tentative Itinerary (Tubing Only)
9:00 a.m.                            Carpool from St. Thomas
                                          Stop at Wegmans grocery store for supplies
11:00 a.m.                           Arrive at Downriver Canoe Company
11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.        Float on river
4:00 p.m.                            Low Water Bridge Tubing brings everyone back to their cars to depart
6:00 p.m.                            Arrive at St. Thomas

Optional Camping: STAY Cool participants will have the option to go home after tubing or camp overnight at the Low Water Bridge Campground (near where the tubing trip ends) and return to DC Sunday, August 20, 2017 by 1:00 p.m. The $57 cost covers campsite rental and food. Details (tents/transportation/grills/food, etc.) will be coordinated separately via email. NOTE: You do not need to own camping gear.
