Our Pastor - Father Patrick Healy, SSJ

Fr. Healy, a member of St. Joseph's Society of the Sacred Heart, The Josephites, headquartered in Baltimore, MD, was born in Los Angeles, CA. He attended Our Lady Queen of Angels Minor Seminary, San Fernando, CA, and two years at St. John's Major Seminary, Camarillo, CA. In 1969, he entered the Novitiate for the Josephites, a community of Priests and Brothers who serve the African-American community in the USA.

Fr. Healy graduated cum laude from Howard University, Washington, DC, and completed graduate Theology studies for the priesthood at the Washington Theological Coalition. He was ordained at his home Parish, St. Hilary, Pico Rivera, CA, on May 15, 1976.

Fr. Healy has served for over 36 years as a Josephite Priest in parish and missionary work, having pastored many parishes across the country: in Houston, TX; in New Orleans, LA; Los Angeles, CA; in the Bahamas Islands where he pastored 8 mission stations, traveling among the islands in his single-engine Cessna; in Pascagoula, MS; ;Washington, DC; in Beaumont, TX, as pastor of two parishes; in Mobile, AL, as pastor of two parishes; and today as pastor of St. Augustine Church, New Roads, LA.
 
From 1994 through 1998 Fr. Healy served as an Active Duty Army Chaplain in the 82d Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC, and as Command Chaplain in a Multinational Peacekeeping mission along the Israeli-Egyptian border, Sinai, Egypt, where he also served as liaison to the Vatican Secretariat of State in Jerusalem.
 
Fr. Healy has been the director of the Josephite Hurricane Recovery Center, addressing the needs of 10 Josephite parishes, 9 schools, and thousands of displaced parishioners who were severely affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in September 2005.
 
Fr. Healy has served as a member of the Josephite General Council and local Josephite superior for members in Texas and California, and he is a board member of the Josephite Pro-Life, Pro-Marriage, Pro-Family committee.
