If these reflections are being used as part of a service, then the following simple Order of Service can be used to structure the act of worship.  The responses at the beginning and end of each station appears in the text in grey.  Alternatively they can be used as laid out on each page without the liturgy.

The Gathering


Opening Prayers and responses may be used.

A hymn may be sung

An appropriate Collect may be said


The Stations of the Cross


Before the first Station a verse of a hymn may be sung or a piece of music played


At each Station

            We adore you O Christ and we bless you

All        because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.


Bible Reading





            O Saviour of the world who by your cross and precious blood redeemed us

All        Save us and help us we humbly beseech you, O Lord.


Between each Station a verse of a hymn is sung or music may be played.


After the final Station


Closing Prayers, ending with The Lord’s Prayer


            May the life-giving cross be the source of all our joy and peace.

All        Amen.

The service may end with silent prayer (especially on Good Friday)
