Thank you for visiting our community group website!
The goal of our group is to work on behalf of the people of St Athan and surrounding areas and set up an organisation to take over and run the library - should that be what the community wish.

Our short term aims are as follows:-

- We need to develop a business plan with the support of the council by July.

- We need to find out what the community want from their library - please let us know by filling in the short form here

Our successes so far are:-

- We proved to the council that the local community supports our plan! - nearly 80 people signed the on-line form, and just over 120 signed our paper forms.

-The council accepted our expression of interest - so we are through to the next stage. Writing up a business plan and working out how the community will manage and run the library. To get involved in planning the future organisation please fill in your details here

About Our Organisation
Following a public meeting on 28/4/15 12 people agreed to work together and present an expression of interest to the Vale of Glamorgan Council by the 18th of May.

Our expression of interest has now been accepted by the council. Next steps are to present them with a business plan - they will then make their final decision about handing over the building and library service to the community.
Become a Volunteer
As a community we need to prove to the Vale of Glamorgan Council that we are serious about taking over the library building and running of the service. They have already taken the decision to close it, and without our intervention the site will be sold. - we will need the community to show they support our work by posting leaflets and talking to their neighbours.

To create a viable business plan we will need help from professionals with experience in building renovation, charitable organisations and financial controls.
Service Opportunities
If the new community organisation is successful and  takes over the ownership and running of the library we will need people who would like to volunteer at the library.

From social group leaders, to book shelver, coffee morning organisers and newspaper monitors - we will need you all, plus many more! Please let us know what, and when you would like to be involved with the library.
