Are you interested in launching a technology (or technology-enabled) startup?
If so, apply to become a Student Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) at General Catalyst for the 2011-12 academic year. General Catalyst Partners is a top venture capital firm headquartered here in Cambridge, with an exceptional network and a portfolio that includes Kayak.com, RueLaLa, HubSpot, and many other exciting technology companies (www.generalcatalyst.com). The firm is led by entrepreneurs, and has helped launch dozens of companies right from our offices in Harvard Square. The HBS Student EIR will spend 5-10 hours a week here at General Catalyst. The bulk of time will be spent by the EIR exploring opportunities to start a company in his or her particular area of interest. EIRs may occasionally help evaluate a new prospective General Catalyst deal. Additionally, EIRs will serve as a liaison between General Catalyst and HBS.
As part of this program, you will receive a stipend to support your entrepreneurial efforts, desk space within the GC offices on an as-needed basis, and access to the General Catalyst startup ecosystem. We want to give you the tools so that your year with General Catalyst will accelerate your ability to create a successful technology business.
Those interested in the program should submit a resume and cover letter by October 24, 2011. Cover letters can be brief and should include a paragraph on your business / industry of interest. Finalists will meet in person with the General Catalyst team in late October and one student will be selected as the HBS EIR in early November. All current Harvard Business School students are welcome to apply.
