Breadcrumb - Summer Internship (Business Development)

posted Apr 10, 2011, 12:47 PM by Jessica Bloomgarden
Breadcrumb is a better way for restaurants, bars and nightclubs to manage orders, labor, payments and reporting. We're changing hospitality point-of-sale, and we're looking for some outstanding interns to help us.

The Business Development Intern will work side by side with the CEO and founding team to achieve the following:

  • Identify and segment potential customers in the NYC region; develop contact list
  • Create marketing materials including Media Kit, How It Works Presentation, Screencasts and all Form Communications
  • Refine existing website copy and message
  • Assist with client pitch presentations; in some cases, lead pitch meetings
  • Research competitors’ methods, practices and client base
  • Evaluate new potential vendor suppliers
  • Identify strategic partner targets to help improve product distribution
  • Talk to customers to determine new feature requirements and areas for product improvement

We are a lean startup that only has room for superstars to join the team. You will not be filing, grabbing coffee or making copies. You will be given real responsibility, great mentoring and the opportunity to shape the direction and success at the very start of a new company. If your engine never stops and you have a passion for getting stuff done, we want to hear from you. If you want to experience a startup for real (instead of just watching a movie), we want to hear from you. If you've ever been a waiter/bartender and hated old, clunky POS systems, we want to hear from you. If you want to learn an awful lot this summer about how to start a company, we want to hear from you.

This is a tremendous opportunity for someone interested in Business Operations, Business Development, Marketing, Technology or Startups. You will be treated as a full member of our team and be responsible for your own workstreams and end-products. You will receive plenty of advice and mentoring along the way from experienced professionals.

  • Hustle--there is a lot to do. The harder you work and the stronger your drive, the more responsibility you'll have.
  • Analytical Thinking--are you great at creating and executing plans? Do you anticipate problems before they happen?
  • Personality--do you like to have fun? Do people have fun when around you? Are you able to talk intelligently about topics you may not know much about?
  • Computer Literate- Microsoft Office Suite (Word & Excel required, Powerpoint/Keynote/Photoshop knowledge a plus)
  • Familiarity with iOS devices, SaaS, restaurants, bars, nightclubs helpful

To apply, send resume and cover letter to Please use your cover letter to tell us your availability for the internship and at least one thing you find interesting/like/hate about startups, iOS, restaurants, bars or nightclubs.
