The University of York has been awarded a large European Research Grant for the project "POSTGLACIAL" to conduct 5 more years of research at the site of Star Carr, and other sites nearby in order to better understand what life was like for hunter gatherers after the end of the Ice Age, c. 10,000-8000 BC.

The research will focus on recovering climatic and environmental data from the peat and linking this with evidence for human occupation in Britain, shortly after the end of the last Ice Age.
