St Anthony's Bells

posted Aug 31, 2013, 4:48 AM by Mr. Anthony Shrine   [ updated Aug 31, 2013, 4:51 AM ]

The Bells in the Tower of the Shrine are being serviced over the next few weeks. You may have noticed that they have been silent the last few Sunday’s! All the motors, mechanism and chains are been serviced and replaced where needed. All the Bells have been cleaned and blots replaced where needed.  In a few weeks they will again be fully operational like new. The four Bells that we have in the Spire come from the Campanni foundry in Italy. We will let you know when they will be ringing out again.

Bells are traditionally recognized as the voice of God calling to worship and proclaiming the joy of a newly baptized baby and a newly wed couple in St Anthony's Shrine. With a mixture of sadness and joy they also tell of a new soul making its way to heaven at a funeral.
