For many years, SPS ran the Stanmer Rural Museum behind Stanmer House. We are now actively seeking new premises after we had to move out in 2014. In the meantime we are running temporary displays in various locations: bookstall, church and forge. The Stanmer Rural Museum collection includes an amazing variety of rural artefacts, archaeology and geology, plus documents relating to the history of Stanmer. You can also find documents in The Keep, nearby. We also care for the donkey wheel house by the church, where water was drawn to supply the village, and the almost unique watercatcher, behind the back lane at the far end of the village. If you would like to volunteer with the museum in any way, just speak to any of the helpers in the church or bookstall or email us.
