Format of the seminar

The seminar is open to all graduate students and faculty in the department. Attendance is compulsory for Ph.D students. Ph.D students are expected to present a paper once each year. If there are slots available, visiting Ph.D students and M.Phil students are welcome to make use of them.

The convention is that a student's first or second supervisor chair the session unless they are unavailable. If neither of your supervisors are available to chair for you and you need help finding another appropriate faculty member, don't hesitate to ask. Presentations typically last forty-five minutes and are followed by comments from another Ph.D student and a Q&A lasting around another forty-five minutes.

Afterwards there are refreshments (provided by the department) – a great opportunity to socialize with your fellow postgraduates!
